WEKIVA RIVER, ROCK SPRINGS RUN, AND LITTLE WEKIVA CANAL BASIN MANAGEMENT ACTION PLAN (BMAP) WORK SESSION #1, ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (BCC)
March 6 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection adopted the Wekiva River, Rock Springs Run, and Little Wekiva Canal Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP) as part of its statewide watershed management approach to restore and protect Florida’s water quality.
Please join us for the first of three work sessions to be held by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners on the Wekiva BMAP. This work session will consist of a discussion on the regulatory requirements for the BMAP that need to be rewritten by July 1, 2018. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) will also be present to discuss the requirements and answer any questions presented by the Mayor or Commissioners. Orange County Environmental Protection (EPD) will present project lists submitted for inclusion in the BMAP as well as current efforts and possible impacts on the budget. This work session is open to the public, and any member of the public who wishes to offer testimony may do so during public comment at the beginning of the BCC meeting (9:00 AM). Those who would like to give public comment will need to fill out a speaker card here: http://www.orangecountyfl.net/BoardofCommissioners/BoardAppearanceRequest.aspx, or arrive early and complete one at the desk in front of the Chambers. Members of the public who are unable to attend the work session may also livestream it on Orange TV: http://www.orangecountyfl.net/OpenGovernment/OrangeTVVisionTV/OrangeTVLive.aspx.
We are working to schedule a community meeting that will give an overview of the BMAP from Orange County staff for residents who have septic tanks and will be affected by the BMAP district. The Wekiva Rock PFA, Wekiva Protection Area, Wekiva BMAP, and Wekiva Study area can be accessed here: file:///C:/Users/128851/Desktop/Wekivamap.pdf.
The regular Orange County Commission meeting is at 2;00 PM.
