Debate for District 2 Commissioner Candidates

July 26, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The next Orange County District 2 commissioner will be faced with the daunting task of guiding the process of complying with the Florida Legislation called a “Basin Action Management Plan (BMAP).” This plan has serious implications for all Orange County residents. Included in these new regulations are:

• Fertilizer and water restrictions for both residents and businesses
• Cleansing of nitrogen from storm water run off
• Mandates requiring the replacement of conventional septic systems with higher nitrogen reducing systems
• Expansion of sewer lines and treatment facilities

The BMAP will impact Orange County for the next 20 years as compliance goals within the BMAP are increased in steps. While State funds have been promised to assist our county and homeowners, the amounts committed may be insufficient, placing residence at high risk for higher taxes.

A Coalition of Wekiva Area Home Owners have arraigned for a public meeting to allow all Commissioner candidates the opportunity to participate in a public discussion on the issues pertaining to BMAP. Please join us Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Victory Church, 509 S Park Ave, Apopka, FL 32703. Doors open at 6:00 PM with formal candidate discussions beginning at 7:00 PM, ending at 8:30 PM.
